Successful drummers from around the world are in Regina to teach classes, and perform for musicians and fans alike.

Jayson Brinkworth organized the Regina Drum Festival to inspire young drummers. “I just wanted to kind of give back to students and get them inspired the same way I was as a kid, so I started bringing in players from all over the world, one guy a year. Then last year I thought that maybe we'd step it up a bit and make it a one day event."

The Regina Drum Festival gives drummers the chance to learn from some of the best in the business.

For Dylan Dobrescu, a young drummer who competed in the Stickman Rising Star Challenges, the festival provided a great networking opportunity.

“It's great to talk to other people who have the same passion as me and get to meet some drummers I never thought I’d meet."

The high school senior took part in a master drumming class presented before the rising star challenge. “The drummer Scott Pelligrem was so amazing that I didn't want to go and play. He was just incredible and I learned so much in the 20 minutes I was there."

The festival wraps up Saturday night, and plans are already in the works for next year's event.
