Local environmental activist Jim Elliott has officially thrown his name in the ring to become the next mayor of Regina, alongside Tony Fiacco and Michael Fougere.

This is not the first time Elliott has run for mayor; he ran in both the 2009 and 2012 municipal elections.

Elliott is highly critical of the current administration and feels he is the best man to weed out the problems at city hall.

“I think there’s been some problems associated with our current council and they need to be fixed or worked on. They’re not being as active as I think they should be on a number of topics,” explained Elliott. “(City council) is not giving the response, the respect and concerns to certain issues in the city.”

Throughout his campaign, Elliott plans to be an active voice in curbing Regina’s racism and discrimination. He also plans to focus on how the Queen City can play a greater role in the fight against climate change.
