Police charged three impaired drivers and issued five roadside suspensions on the first day of the Craven Country Jamboree.

RCMP say they also responded to three traffic collisions and handed out 73 traffic tickets.

In addition, police laid one charge of assault with a weapon, three counts of mischief to property and four counts of disturbing the peace. Seven prisoners were held in custody.

More than 20,000 people are expected to attend the four-day country music festival, which officially kicked off Thursday.
