Three more people have now been charged in the murder of Danial Dipaolo, 51, in April.

Dipaolo’s body was found in a house on the 700 block of Garnet Street on April 29, 2017.

Edward Genaille, 51, is already facing first-degree murder charges in Dipaolo’s death, but police said early in the investigation that they believed other people had been involved in the murder.

In a joint investigation with the Winnipeg Police Service, three other men were identified as suspects in the case. Two of them were already in custody in Winnipeg on unrelated charges.

Christopher Matthew Brass, 34, and Malcolm Mitchell, 25, are both charged with first-degree murder in Dipaolo’s death. They are both scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Regina via video link on Friday afternoon.

In addition to the murder charge in Regina, both Brass and Mitchell are also facing charges in Winnipeg. They were arrested by Winnipeg police on May 2 for violent offences, and on May 16 both men were charged in connection with two Winnipeg homicides earlier this year.

The third additional suspect, Johathon Edward Kakewash, 31, has also been charged with first-degree murder. He is not in police custody, and a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Anyone with any information about Kakewash’s location is asked to call Regina police at 306-777-6500, Winnipeg police at 204-986-6222, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or their nearest municipal police or RCMP detachment.

Dipaolo's death was Regina's first homicide of 2017.
