Trent Wotherspoon has announced that he is running for leader of the Saskatchewan New Democrats.

Wotherspoon made the announcement at the Legislature on Wednesday morning.

The Regina Rosemont MLA had been serving at the party’s interim leader since spring of 2016 when former leader Cam Broten stepped down. Wotherspoon stepped down as interim leader back in June, saying he was considering a run for permanent leadership.

Nicole Sarauer was named interim leader following Wotherspoon’s decision to step down.

Saskatoon Meewasin MLA Ryan Meili announced back in May that he is also making a bid to be the party’s leader.
