The trial of three men accused of murdering Shawn Douglas heard from two Regina police officers Friday who responded to separate crime scenes in the case.
Const. Michael Seel told court he was called to the 200 block of Quebec Street on the morning of August 7, 2014.
There, a complainant told him they saw a man being dragged out of an SUV and forced into the trunk of a Honda civic. Part of the altercation was captured on video, which was played in court Friday.
Court also heard from Const. Brad Young, who was called to the 2000 block of Reynolds Street that same morning.
There, he found a distraught man who led him to investigate a house on the 1600 block of Toronto Street.
Young told the court the house was known to police for gang activity. He said he waited for backup, then asked for permission to go inside. Once inside the home, he said he saw blood on the floor, couch and fridge.
The distraught man that led Young to the home was Virgil Mosquito, who also testified Friday. Mosquito told the court he was at Triple 8 Pizza on the evening of August 6th, 2014 with his sister and cousin.
Mosquito said his cousin met a middle-aged white man, and later, the foursome went to a party on the 1600 block of Toronto Street with people they met at the lounge.
Mosquito said the party was fine at first, but things turned tense after heavy drinking. He told the court at one point he realized the white man had been beat up and was bleeding.
He said he fled the party after three men in with white bandanas covering their faces arrived and threatened him with a knife. He ran out the front door, and that’s how he said he wound up on Reynolds Street with officer Young.
Mosquito said he never learned the name of the white man he met that night.
When the Crown asked Mosquito if anyone in the courtroom was at that party on Toronto Street, Mosquito identified only one of the accused – Joshua Wilson.
Wilson, Dennis Thompson and Jonathan Peepeetch are all on trial for first-degree murder in Douglas’ death.
