Two men are facing murder charges in connection with the death of a man on a First Nation near North Battleford.

RCMP say 19-year-old Taryn Lee Cote and 18-year-old Troy Andrew Swiftwolfe have both been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 24-year-old Bryan Darnell Blackstar.

Blackstar, who was a resident of the Moosomin First Nation, died after police responded to a report of an assault at a home on the reserve early Sunday morning.

Cote, of the Salteaux First Nation, and Swiftwolfe, of the Moosomin First Nation, made their first court appearance Tuesday in North Battleford.

The two men are scheduled to return to court March 5.
