The SIAST building in Regina is closed today after a 29-year-old man was injured while working on an electrical system at the site.

Police say an electrical arc occurred in the system at around 9:30 p.m. Monday.

The man was taken to hospital with what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Firefighters and SaskPower were called in to ensure the situation was under control.

Normal operations were suspended in the main building Tuesday due to a resulting power outage. Officials say the building will remain closed Wednesday while crews work to fix the problem.
