A family tragedy in southeast Saskatchewan.

RCMP say a brother and sister are among four victims of a Thursday evening fatal crash in southeast Saskatchewan. They are identified as a 7 year old boy and an 11 year girl from Turner Valley Alberta. Police say the van the children were in collided with a CP freight train at an uncontrolled rail crossing east of Broadview.

Police say the children’s 42 year old mother was rushed to nearby hospital with undetermined injuries. Their 15 year old brother, the driver of the vehicle, was transported to hospital in Regina by STARS air ambulance. He was last reported in serious condition.

Two other people in the camper van also died. They are identified as an 11 year old girl from Chestermere Alberta and an 18 year old woman from the Whitewood Saskatchewan district. Police say the latter two victims are not related to others in the van nor to each other.

The rail line was closed for the police investigation.
