RCMP have released more details on a fatal crash in southeastern Saskatchewan.

A seven-year-old girl died and five other people were injured after a minivan rolled into a ditch off Highway 318, about 11 kilometres north of Carnduff, on Monday night.

Mounties say the victim and the injured are members of two separate families – one of which recently moved to the Storthoaks, Sask. area from Wheatley, Ont.

The name of the child who died hasn’t been released. Police say she is a resident of Storthoaks.

An eight-year-old boy from Wheatley was flown to hospital by STARS air ambulance.

Also taken to hospital were a 14-year-old boy, a 15-year-old girl and a 36-year-old woman, all from Storthoaks, as well as a 41-year-old Wheatley woman. A one-year-old boy from Wheatley was uninjured.

The crash was initially reported as a two-vehicle collision, but RCMP have confirmed that only the minivan was involved.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
