A 45-year-old man is facing charges following a six-hour standoff with police in south Regina.

Hugh James Scott of Regina is charged with six offences stemming from two armed robberies in the city earlier this week.

In both robberies, a masked man carrying a gun demanded drugs from a pharmacy in south Regina.

Scott was arrested following a lengthy standoff with police Wednesday morning at a home in the 4600 block of McTavish Street.

It all started after Scott refused to speak to police, who had identified him as a possible suspect in the robberies.

Crisis negotiators and a SWAT team were called in after police learned Scott may have had access to firearms. No one was hurt in the incident.

Scott made his first court appearance Thursday afternoon. The case was adjourned until Jan. 14.
