A police standoff at a motel near downtown Regina has ended peacefully with one person in custody.

Officers converged at the Coachman Inn Motel just before 7 a.m. Monday.

The motel was evacuated and guests were reportedly told someone inside may have had a gun.

It all stemmed from an investigation into a stabbing and robbery Sunday in the Fillmore area.

A 42-year-old man was taken to hospital with stab wounds following the incident.

Police took a 29-year-old man into custody at the motel early Monday morning. Investigators believe he is assoociated with the incident but, at this point, his involvement isn't clear. Authorities say they are still looking for other suspects in the case.

Officers also forcibly entered two rooms at the motel, but didn't find anyone inside.

At around noon, guests were allowed back into their rooms and traffic returned to normal in the area.

The motel was the scene of another police standoff in May 2010. That incident also ended peacefully.
