Tavria Ukranian Dance School relies on the funds raised at Roughrider games to keep their classes affordable.

“We’re hearing rumours that many of the non-profit organizations that run concession at Taylor field during the home games might be out of luck,” Vince Baryluk, a volunteer at the dance school, said.

The volunteers make an average of $1,000 per game. With 10 games a year, the $10,000 adds up to a significant part of their annual budget. Baryluk is afraid since Tavria hasn’t heard about next year, they might not have the same opportunity to beef up their budget.

The Roughriders are responsible for the current stadium’s concessions, but the new stadium’s food and beverage service will be ran by Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL). They say they do plan to use volunteers at the new stadium, and they’re hoping to mimic the old stadium’s model.

The Oct. 1 test game at the new Mosaic Stadium includes volunteers.

"We're testing out what we think we might do with uniform, how they fit in with food service plan, and we're looking for some feedback for them, They have a lot of experience across the street and we'd like to know what they think,” REAL’s vice-president of food and beverage, Graham Edge, said.

The new stadium will include more private vendors than its predecessor, but Edge says their contracts encourage fundraising opportunities.

REAL is still working on their plan to incorporate volunteers into the new stadium, and said they hope current volunteers reach out to discuss future opportunities at the new facility.
