A new poll finds Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall is tied with B.C.’s Christy Clark for the second-highest national approval rating among the premiers.

The Mainstreet-Postmedia survey pegs the national approval ratings of both Wall and Clark at 40 per cent. The premiers with the highest approval ratings nationally were Alberta’s Rachel Notley and Quebec’s Philippe Couillard at 45 per cent apiece. Ontario’s Kathleen Wynne was third at 38 per cent.

At 54 per cent, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s national approval rating was higher than those of all the premiers.

The poll also gauged approval ratings in the premiers’ home provinces. Wall was fourth, with a 46 per cent approval rating among the 500 Saskatchewan residents who were surveyed.

Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister had the highest approval rating in his home province at 53 per cent, followed by Nova Scotia’s Stephen McNeil at 50 per cent and P.E.I. Premier Wade MacLauchlan at 47 per cent.

The poll surveyed 5,250 Canadians randomly by phone from June 12 to 15. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.35 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
