Police say the death of a man found at a home in Regina's Washington Park neighbourhood over the weekend is the city’s first homicide of the year.

The victim has been identified as 51-year-old Daniel Richard Dipaolo of Regina. His family has been notified of his death, police said in a news release Monday.

Shortly after 5:30 a.m. Saturday, police were called to a house in the 700 block of Garnet Street for a report of an injured man.

When they arrived, officers and EMS found Dipaolo, who died at the scene.

Police are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact Regina police or Crime Stoppers.
