The new Regina wastewater treatment plant is now 75 per cent complete. Officials made the announcement at a media tour on Tuesday.

18 months into construction, the project is on budget, and slightly ahead of schedule.

Upgrades to the existing plant are also progressing well, and are expected to be completed by December 2016. The upgrades will address increased effluent regulations by the province, and provide additional capacity for growth.

“We could not be more pleased that this project is on budget and ahead of schedule,” said Mayor Michael Fougere in a written release. “Reginans and neighbouring communities look forward to the improved water quality and environmental benefits these upgrades will provide.”

The next phase of the project will tie the existing plant into the Biological Nutrient Removal system and the secondary clarifiers.
