A woman was airlifted to hospital after a collision between a car and a train in central Saskatchewan.

The crash happened Sunday morning near Punnichy.

RCMP say a 28-year-old woman from the Kawacatoose First Nation was trapped inside the car. Crews worked in freezing cold temperatures to free her from the wreckage.

The injured woman was taken to hospital by a STARS helicopter.

The crash delayed traffic on the CN line for nearly four hours.
