A woman was taken to hospital after a two-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway just east of Regina.

RCMP say it appears a pickup truck was stopped at a red light when it was struck from behind by another pickup.

The woman driving the truck that was rear-ended was taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The westbound lanes of Highway 1 were closed to traffic for over an hour while emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage.

Traffic had to be stopped and rerouted onto service roads, causing a huge traffic jam for vehicles trying to enter the city from the east.
