Regina police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the shooting of a 25-year-old man at a Glencairn house party last weekend.

Police were called to the house party at 85 Rootman Avenue around 4:55 a.m. last Sunday. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Adam Taniskishayinew, 24, was later arrested at 4:45 p.m. on Friday, after police surrounded a home on the 1700 block of Winnipeg Street and negotiated with him to come outside.

Police blocked off the area, from 11th Avenue to Arcola Avenue, for much of the afternoon.

Spike belts were placed at each end of an alley in the block, and several officers, police dogs and police vehicles responded to the call. The blockades were removed shortly after 5 p.m.

Adam Taniskishayinew is being charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm and breach of probation.

Taniskishayinew will make his first court appearance for these charges next Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
