Asfaw has lived in Regina for 23 years with his wife Lori. They have three children. He has a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the U of R, and he works as a Marketing Analyst for SaskTel. Asfaw is experienced in marketing new technologies, managing projects, and facilitating groups of people to work together.

Asfaw loves soccer, and he has an infectious laugh that makes everyone around him smile. He is involved in many activities in the city, and in 2005 received the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal for voluntary service and community leadership.

As a Councillor, Asfaw will work for:

• creation of good jobs and business opportunities,

• responsible management of resources using modern technologies,

• more public spaces that support activity and provide opportunities for people to

get together,

• Regina’s participation in the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy,

• transparency in city council and opportunities for citizen engagement.
