Saskatchewan's auditor says it's time for the government to stop using what she calls "two sets of books" to report its finances.
Auditor Bonnie Lysyk is repeating a request for the province to stop reporting on a government general revenue fund basis and a summary basis, which takes into account all areas of government including Crown corporations.
Lysyk says in a report that Saskatchewan is the only province that talks about balancing the books on the general revenue fund.
She says only the summary financial report paints a real picture of the government's finances.
Lysyk says presenting both sets of numbers is confusing to people and can be misleading.
The Saskatchewan government said in its budget update released last week that it is projecting a surplus of $22.5 million on a summary financial basis.
