A new nationwide poll finds Brad Wall is still Canada’s most popular premier, following his announcement last month that he’s retiring from politics.

The Angus Reid Institute survey puts the Saskatchewan premier's approval at 49 per cent, up four points from the previous quarter.

John Horgan, who was sworn in as B.C.’s premier in July, was slightly less popular at 48 per cent approval. Meanwhile, Manitoba’s Brian Pallister and New Brunswick’s Brian Gallant both sit at 36 per cent.

Quebec’s Phillipe Couillard and Nova Scotia’s Stephen McNeil were tied at 35 per cent approval, followed by Alberta’s Rachel Notley at 29 per cent and Newfoundland’s Dwight Ball at 27 per cent. Ontario’s Kathleen Wynne was the least popular premier, with only 17 per cent approval.

The poll, which surveyed 5,466 Canadian members of the Angus Reid Forum online from Sept. 5 to 19, has a margin of error of plus or minus two percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
