Charges are pending against a 16-year-old student after a school was locked down on the Island Lake First Nation in western Saskatchewan.

RCMP say they received a complaint a Friday afternoon about a student who reportedly had a hand gun.

The school was put on lockdown and the youth left the scene but was later arrested.

An investigation determined the youth was carrying a pellet gun that resembled a pistol.

No one was injured in the incident.
