CTV has learned that the chief charged in a prescription drug trafficking ring in the Yorkton area sits on the board of directors of a First Nations addiction treatment centre.

Chief Clarence Papequash of the Key First Nation is a board member of the Saulteaux Healing and Wellness Centre on the Cote First Nation. The facility provides treatment for drug and alcohol addiction.

The 58-year-old was among 16 people charged last week after a six-month RCMP investigation.

Papequash is set to appear in court in Kamsack on Feb. 16.
