In Regina, city council has made it official with the next step in a major revitalization in the downtown area.

At a meeting Monday night, councilors approved a mission statement and 10 to 15 year plan for a proposed re-development of the CP railyards and Taylor Field in Regina's downtown. There are still no specific details, but the city has said there is private sector interest in the development.

Council has already opened negotiations to purchase the property from CP Rail though no deal has yet been reached.
