The city is getting ready for more construction on the Ring Road.

Starting August 13, the Canadian Pacific (CP) Railway will begin maintenance on their crossing over the Ring Road just east of Winnipeg Street.

The work of the first phase of construction will require all lanes on the Ring Road to be closed in both directions. There will be detours using the offramps that eventually loop traffic back to the Ring Road.

The city said they plan to adjust the timing of their traffic signals, but they’re warning to expect “significant” delays.

This first phase is expected to take two days. The second phase will begin directly after and the exit ramp from northbound Ring Road to Winnipeg Street will be closed. The third phase will follow and will require the entrance ramp to southbound Ring Road from Winnipeg Street to be closed on August 16. Both of these phases are only expected to take one day.

“For everyone’s safety, drivers are reminded to slow down in construction zones and consider alternate routes and avoid construction,” the city said in a release.

The estimated times for each phase are based on perfect working conditions and should be met barring any unforeseen circumstances.
