A flood advisory has been issued for the Cypress Hills area in southwest Saskatchewan.

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority says runoff in the area could potentially be well above normal.

A cool spring delayed the snow melt in the southwest corner of the province, and now officials are bracing for a possible wave of water.

Snowfall this past weekend has only added to the concerns. The weather forecast is calling for warmer temperatures in the area early next week.

Officials say there is potential for flooding in the town of Eastend and on farms near creeks and rivers on the south slope of the Cypress Hills.

The watershed authority says the supply reservoir behind Eastend Dam does not provide flood protection.
