Redistribution
A shrunken riding. Except for a narrow north-south strip in the west, the rest of the rural area of Wascana becomes a northwestern section of Souris—Moose Mountain. The north-south strip goes to Moose Jaw—Lake Centre—Lanigan. The urban section becomes Regina Wascana.
Electoral History
The area was held by Diefenbaker’s strategist and Northern Affairs and Agriculure Minister Alvin Hamilton from 1957-1988, and PC Larry Schneider for a term, before he lost to Liberal Ralph Goodale in 1993. Goodale has held it since. He had over 57% of the vote in 2006, but he only won by 12 points in 2008 and four in 2011.
