Candidates:

Liberal: Connor Moen

Connor Moen - Yorkton-Melville

Connor Moen is the Liberal Party Candidate for Yorkton-Melville.

Moen was born and raised in Saskatchewan and attended the Unviersity of Saskatchewan pursuing political studies.

He previously represented Saskatchewan in Ottawa as a member of the Ukranian Canadian Congress. Moen built his political experience working for the Liberal Research Bureau on Parliament Hill.

He says he is focused on helping to find balance between the economy and the environment in political policy.

“We need to take strong bold action on the environment and reach our goals by 2050 while also knowing that this is a transition process,” said Moen. “We need to do that hand in hand with businesses and industries while also supporting the middle class, seniors and post-secondary students.”

Conservative: Cathay Wagantall

Cathay Wagantall - Yorkton-Melville

Cathay Wagantall is the Conservative Party candidate for Yorkton-Mellville.

She is the incumbent in the riding that stretches east bordering Manitoba. The mother of three grew up in Saskatchewan and owns a small signage business in Esterhazy. Wagantall says her experience as an entrepreneur has shown her the challenges of creating jobs for Canadians.

She says she plans on fighting to lower taxes and improved trade relations with China and India.

“A conservative government will make life more affordable for you,” said Wagantall. “It will be in reasonable, costed ways that we've already done with the parliamentary budget officer to ensure that what we spend is affordable at the same time as bringing down the debt.”

NDP: Carter Antoine

Carter Antoine - Yorkton-Melville

Carter Antoine is the New Democratic Party candidate for Yorkton-Melville.

He currently works in retail and studies economics at the University of Regina. He says he is interested in using the economy to improve the lives of everyday Canadians, because he understands the struggles of having to live pay-check to pay-check.

“If they have to make a choice between feeding their kids and maybe skipping a day of medication they’re going to feed their kids, but nobody should have to make that choice,” said Antoine. “I think pharmacare is really going to help a lot of people when we can get the pharmaceutical companies high costs off of the back of people’s necks.”

Antoine also says he would like to work with the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour to protect jobs, and Crown Corporations from government selloff.

Green: Stacey Wiebe

Stacey Wiebe - Yorkton-Melville

Stacey Wiebe is the Green Party candidate for Yorkton-Mellville.

Wiebe is a holistic farmer near Sturgis, SK. She says she is running for the Green Party because she feels the party’s social, environmental, and economic approach to their policies is in line with holistic practices.

Wiebe is also looking to bring accessibility to rural areas with a focus on regenerative farming.

“Saving seed for farmers is one of the things I’m passionate about. Regenerative and organic agriculture, so those are the things I’d like to see change,” said Wiebe. “I’d like to see people take advantage of the subsidies that the green party is offering to transition to organic.”

She also supports the Green Party’s vision of encouraging smaller family run farms.

People's Party: Ryan Schultz

Ryan Schultz - Yorkton Melville

Ryan Schultz is the People's Party of Canada candidate for Yorkton-Melville.

Schultz grew up in rural Sasktchewan and is a counsellor for the village of Young.

His focus this election is lowering the cost of living for Canadians.

“I want to lower everyone’s income tax i want to get rid or supply management to lower food costs for people e. I want to get rid of the carbon tax because that’s a tax on everything we use on our day to day lives,” said Schultz.

He also emphasized reducing trade barriers between Canadian provinces to save money across the country.
