The community of Wilkie has had to make other arrangements for advance polls for the federal election after a fire damaged the town's arena on Friday.

The arena, which is the community’s only polling station, was heavily damaged by smoke. Officials from the town say everyone was able to exit the building without injury, and the ballot box was not damaged.

The advanced polls have now been moved to the town hall at 206 2nd Ave. W. They will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The cause and extent of the fire has not been released.
