Friday marks the 10-year anniversary of the “Big Dig” in Regina.

About 200 workers toiled around the clock for three months to drain and dig out Wascana Lake, in order to control weed growth and improve water quality.

Around 1.3 million cubic metres of earth was excavated, and trucks made about 96,000 trips out of the lake bed.

The lake was about five metres deeper on average when the $18 million project was completed on March 21, 2004.
