Funnel clouds spotted near Moose Jaw
Funnel cloud near Moose Jaw (TOURISM MOOSE JAW)
Several funnel clouds were spotted in southern Saskatchewan on Monday, although there have not been any reports of a tornado actually touching down. Environment Canada has issued a weather advisory for the City of Regina, and much of southern Saskatchewan, stating that conditions are favourable for the development of funnel clouds.
Warm, moist, unstable conditions over southwestern Manitoba and southeastern Saskatchewan are causing the advisory. Normally these types of clouds are not a danger on the ground, but Environment Canada says there is a chance that this rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado.
Environment Canada says if conditions become more favourable for landspout tornados, a watch or warning will be issued.
