Regina Transit is taking the chill out of waiting for the bus along a downtown thoroughfare.

Four heated bus shelters are being installed along Eleventh Avenue. The city is spending about $275,000 to build the new shelters, and heating them will cost an estimated $8,500 a year.

One of the shelters is already in operation and the other three are expected to be completed within the next couple of weeks.

The city says if the warmer shelters work well over the next year, it will consider installing more at other locations.
