An 18-year-old man is dead after a stolen car was involved in a crash with a semi near Lumsden Friday morning.

The accident happened at about 8 a.m. on Highway 11, one kilometre from the approach to Lumsden.

RCMP say a southbound Chevrolet Cavalier turned in front of a southbound semi and was hit. The car was pushed into the ditch.

The driver and lone occupant of the Cavalier was killed. His name has not been released. The semi driver was not injured.

RCMP say the Cavalier had been stolen earlier in the morning from Regina. There are no suspects in that investigation so far.

Highway 11 was reduced to one lane in both directions while the investigation was ongoing. The highway is now open.
