Insp. Evan Bray has been named Regina’s new police chief.
After a national search was carried out, Bray was unanimously chosen by the Board of Police Commissioners after holding various positions within the Regina Police Association and other professional bodies.
Bray has been part of Regina’s police force since 1995. He has served in various positions such as patrol supervisor, a detective corporal with serious habitual offenders, a crisis negotiation team member and a watch commander. Most recently, in 2014, Bray was appointed inspector for the city’s North district.
Additionally, Bray has acquired extensive police education and training, along with multiple awards including his 20 Year Exemplary Service Medal in 2015 and the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2013.
According to the City of Regina, it is Bray’s dedication and commitment to the city that helped him earn this new position.
“He is strong, compassionate, and community-focused, both as a senior officer and a person,” said Mayor Michael Fougere, the board chair. “He is deeply committed to our city and helping it become a safer place.”
Bray is succeeding Troy Hagen, who retired earlier this year after 37 years on the force. Hagen became the city’s top cop in 2008.
