REGINA -- QR codes have been around for quite some time but really gained popularity and regular use in Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic. You see them everywhere, most commonly, in restaurants.

QR codes work like a barcode on a product that you’d buy in store. If you hover your smartphone over them, you should get a popup, that will link you to whatever information they’d like you to see.

If you’re in a restaurant, and you scan that QR code, it’ll most likely take you to their menu. Some places are using them to avoid using menus as a touchless option.
