A 20-year-old man charged in the murder of a gas station employee in Yorkton made his first appearance in court this morning.

Kyle Braeden Furness is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 50-year-old Jimmy Ray Wiebe.

Outside the courthouse, Wiebe's nephew, Adam Paton, said the slaying was a "senseless" crime.

"It's sickening just to see that coward standing there (in court)," Paton said.

"There's never going to be any kind of justice. The kid can sit in jail his whole life; it's not going to make up for what he did."

Furness has been remanded into custody awaiting his next court appearance Aug. 4.
