RCMP used pepper spray to subdue a 27-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a woman and trying to kidnap her in Humboldt.

Officers responded to a call about a man who was trying to take a 36-year-old woman against her will at a sporting goods store on Main Street around 5 p.m. Thursday.

Mounties spotted the man was grabbing the woman around her waist and trying to pull her out of the store while she screamed and clung to the door of the building.

Officers ordered the man to release the woman. He refused to let her go and police used pepper spray to subdue him. After a brief struggle, the man was taken into custody.

The woman suffered minor injuries in the incident. RCMP say she didn't know the suspect.

Lars Allen Olson of Naicam, Sask. has been charged with sexual assault, kidnapping and assault.
