A 20-year-old man is facing a number of charges in relation to an incident in November 2016, when a vehicle with a child inside was stolen and abandoned.

Police say they came into contact with the man through an unrelated investigation into alleged possession of methamphetamine and other outstanding arrest warrants. On Saturday, police were interviewing him about other outstanding files, including the theft of a vehicle with a child inside on November 17, 2016. The child was not harmed in the incident and police say they believe the man parked and abandoned the vehicle once he realized the child was inside.

Samson Goodwill-Severight, 20, is charged with theft of an automobile, possession of a stolen vehicle under $5,000, assault with a weapon and possession of methamphetamine. He will make his first court appearance on Monday.
