A Regina man charged in a fatal crash north of the city has been granted bail.

Colby Nicholas Heid was granted release on a $500 bond during a bail hearing Thursday morning.

Heid, 19, is charged with impaired driving causing death in a crash that claimed the life of 37-year-old Tanner Kaufmann of Regina.

Kaufmann was out with his puppy on a rural road just north of Regina when he was struck by a pickup truck Sunday night. Both Kaufmann and the dog died at the scene. Kaufmann leaves behind a wife and two young children.

Heid is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 13.
