The man accused in a fatal crash over the weekend made his first court appearance on Tuesday morning.

Brendan Sugar, 28, has been charged with impaired driving causing death after the crash that killed Adrienne Daigneault early Saturday morning.

The Crown asked that Sugar not be released because of the seriousness of the charges he faces.

Daigneault was a passenger in a Kia Spectra that was stopped at a red light on Albert Street and 25 Ave. at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday. Police say the Kia was hit from behind by a northbound Dodge Journey traveling at a high rate of speed.

Diagneult suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the Kia was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Diagneault leaves behind a fiancé and a young son. A Go-Fund-Me page has been set up to help the family.
