A 21-year-old man has been charged with arson following a house fire in Moose Jaw early Saturday morning.

Emergency crews were called to a fire on the 300 block of Coteau Street West around 2:30 a.m.

The second story of the home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

Police and fire crews helped occupants leave the house before firefighters extinguished the blaze.

One occupant was treated for smoke inhalation, according to police.

The fire, which caused an estimated $70,000 in damage, did not spread to neighbouring homes.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
