A 22-year-old Regina man is facing impaired driving charges after a collision early Saturday morning saw two people taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police arrived on scene at Saskatchewan Drive and Lorne Street around 1:40 a.m., where a stopped minivan facing west on Saskatchewan Drive at Lorne Street was rear ended by another westbound vehicle, according to a police release.

The two people in the rear ended vehicle suffered serious, but not life threatening injuries.

Christian Johan Brooks, the driver of the other vehicle, was cleared by EMS and arrested.

Brooks was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and driving with a blood alcohol level exceeding .08 causing bodily harm, the release said.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 16.
