Melville RCMP have arrested two men following a shooting incident early Thursday morning.

RCMP responded to a report of a gunshot in a residence on 7th Avenue West in Melville at around 5:45 a.m. Thursday. Police arrived to find a 25-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was assisted at the scene and transported to hospital, where he was treated and released.

Police seized a .22 calibre rifle from the scene and arrested Tristan Stradeski, 22, and Evan Helmeczi, 21, both of Melville. Stradeski faces charges of Discharging a Firearm with Intent and Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm. In relation to the incident, Helmeczi faces charges of Break and Enter to Commit the Offence of Assault with a Weapon and Breach of probation.

Both men are scheduled to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court on Thursday.
