Tributes are pouring in to a memorial site dedicated to a 16 year old boy who died in a fatal vehicle collision in Melfort on Saturday night.

Melfort RCMP were called to the scene at 11:06 p.m. A 2005 GMC Canyon left Shadd Drive, sheared off a power pole, and come to rest against a tree. Melfort EMS and Fire Department had to remove 3 of the 4 occupant from the vehicle. A 14-year-old female was transferred to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon in serious condition, another 14-year-old female was held in Melfort Hospital for observation with minor injuries.

The 16-year-old male driver didn’t require hospitalization.

 RCMP say the weather was clear and the roads were icy at the time of the collision. Alcohol is not believee to be a factor.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended and examined the scene, and the investigation remains ongoing.

No decision has been made at this time in regards to charges against the driver.

CTV news has learned the 16-year-old victim who died played midget hockey in the Melfort Minor Hockey Association.
