Minor injuries reported after vehicle hits multiple homes, vehicles in south Regina

One person sustained minor injuries after Regina Fire says a vehicle struck two homes and two other vehicles in the city’s south end early Tuesday morning.

According to a post on X from Regina Fire, crews were called to the scene around 3:51 a.m.

One person was extracted from the vehicle, Regina Fire said, adding they sustained minor injuries.

An email from the Regina Police Service (RPS) said all occupants of the homes were not injured but the driver was taken to hospital by EMS with minor injuries. 

Photos from the scene show serious damage inflicted to the two homes – including broken windows, scraped exterior walls and a collapsed garage door.

“The whole house shakes and I just hear a big bang,” said Howard Garcia, who was woken up in the middle of the night.

“I was just shocked. I thought it was like an earthquake to be honest.”

Garcia said he went outside with his Dad to investigate the sound.

“We just see a car parked right there and apparently went through the neighbour’s house as I can tell,” he said. “Hit our first car, the blue one … just got towed away because the total loss. He fully wrecked it.”

In the seven years of living in the house, Garcia said has never seen anything like that.

“I guess he was going pretty fast, because he went through a house, and he was probably going over 100 if we're being honest, there's tire marks,” he said. “When I looked at the car after the impact, the handbrake was up and there was tire marks. So I just thought he tried to stop, but still went through a house.”

“They came to us and actually helped and one of the neighbors were the ones who, like, ran out to us, like, ran straight to us before we just came out, and she started running, and then she's like, call 911, and she did. So she obviously helped a lot,” he said. 

In an email to CTV News, RPS said the investigation is ongoing and they plan to have more information on Wednesday.
