A precautionary boil water advisory has been issued for the town of Sintaluta in southern Saskatchewan.

The Saskatchewan Water Security Agency says coliform and E. coli bacteria were recently found during routine sampling of the community's water system.

Residents in the area are being advised to boil their tap water for at least one minute before drinking it or using it for brushing teeth or washing food and dishes.

The advisory was issued Thursday afternoon and will remain in effect until further notice.

Sintaluta is located about 80 kilometres east of Regina.
