A charge of second-degree murder has been laid in the death of a man following a disturbance outside a bar in Fort Qu’Appelle earlier this month.

Patrick Tuckanow, 26, of Fort Qu’Appelle was arrested and charged Thursday in the death of 27-year-old Lucas Lerat, a father of two from the Ochapowace First Nation.

RCMP and File Hills First Nations police responded to a disturbance call in the 500 block of Hudson Avenue on May 13.

Officers found Lerat with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Tuckanow made his first court appearance in Regina on Friday morning. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 29 in Fort Qu’Appelle.
