A partial lockdown has been lifted for all schools in Regina following an anonymous threat.

Shortly before 11:45 a.m., Regina police received a call from an unknown person who said “someone was murdered at a school.” The caller did not indicate a specific threat or school.

Police notified the city’s public and Catholic school divisions and, as a precaution, all schools kept students secured indoors. Regina Public Schools said all staff and students were safe and classes continued, but exterior doors were locked.

At 2:40 p.m., the public school division tweeted that the all-clear had been given for all schools except St. Gregory School.

Police said they received a report of a man with a firearm in his sweater near schools in the city’s Uplands neighbourhood. However, it was later determined the man was only holding his cellphone.

St. Gregory School remained under a “hold and secure” protocol until 3:20 p.m., when the school was given the all-clear.
