Regina police are investigating after a woman was found dead near the Ring Road on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say they were called to the 1100 block of Ring Road, near the Ross Avenue exit ramp, shortly after 1:30 p.m.

A motorist had stopped to assist a person who appeared to not be moving, police said. EMS responded to the scene and confirmed the woman was dead.

As one of the first steps of the investigation, officers will confirm the identity of the deceased woman and notify her next-of-kin, police said.

Major crimes and forensic identification investigators have been sent to the area, and police say the scene will be held until more is known about the circumstances of the woman’s death.

There should be no significant disruption to northbound traffic on the Ring Road, police said.

The Office of the Chief Coroner is assisting with the investigation.

Anyone who may have information is asked to contact Regina police or Crime Stoppers.
